Uploading Data

How do I upload my data to Vertis?

Vertis makes it incredibly simple to analyze your people and office data so that you can make better workforce decisions. Whether you want to visualize headcount scenarios in Vertis Workforce, or develop your commuter benefits strategy in Vertis Commutes, it all starts with bringing your data into Vertis. Thankfully, our guided data upload process makes it easy.

Data Requirements

The only data we require for upload is location – postal code and country for employees, and addresses for your offices. This enables us to automatically generate maps, charts, and tables based on your people and office locations.

However, you can include as much additional information as you’d like. Vertis flexibly adapts to show you customized visualizations and filters based on whatever data you upload. Customers often include additional details related to organizational structure (e.g., group, department, team, job title, etc.), office assignment, demographic information, tenure, remote work, and more. Once uploaded, these data attributes are automatically available as visualization tiles and filters in reports.

Vertis accepts .csv or .xlsx files for upload

Automatic Column Matching

Once you’ve selected the file you’d like to upload, you’ll be asked to confirm the results of our automatic column matching. This matching allows us to be flexible about the exact column headers in your data. For example, our system may be looking for “Home Postal Code” in your employee file. However, if your column header says “Zip Code”, we will automatically map your column header to our schema.

While we can do this for a number of common attributes, in the case that you want to include something we can’t map, you can simply include it as a “custom field”. We’ll look at the type of data (text string, number, date), and generate visualizations and filters accordingly. You can also choose to ignore any column in this step if you’d like to exclude it without having to re-upload.

Review & Edit

Finally, you can review and edit your data right in the upload window. You can quickly highlight any errors and fix them directly, or discard rows with errors and move forward without having to re-upload your data.

Submit

Once you're happy with your upload, click "Finish" to submit your data. Now you're ready to use the data in a report!
